Yoon Chang (b. 1986) is a Korean-American artist working primarily in painting. Through abstract compositions of layered color, gesture, and mark-making, she explores the intersections of memory, emotion, and place. Influenced by automatism, her practice draws on the unconscious mind to create works that navigate the tensions between belonging and distance, and between structure and freedom.
Before dedicating herself fully to painting, Chang worked as an interior designer and creative director, experiences that continue to inform her sensitivity to space, structure, and composition. She received a BFA in Interior Design from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, and now lives and works in Los Angeles. Her work has been exhibited at SCOPE Miami Beach, SPRING/BREAK Art Show, and TTEART Gallery in Seoul, South Korea.
